Sarah Mathews

Sarah Gribble Mathews, daughter of Jeff and Katie Gribble, was born July 21, 1919, and was adopted at age five by her aunt Minnie Gribble and reared by Minnie and her sister, Josephine Gribble Carter.  She married Edgar Mathews on Christmas Day, 1937.  They had two children, Jerry Dale Mathews and Jo Ann Mathews Cross.  She was the bookkeeper for the Sulphur Springs school district for several years, and after that she taught first grade.  Sarah died January 19, 2013.
