John and Lena Deuberry

John Henry Deuberry, son of Jabe and Mollie Phillips Deuberry, was born September 9, 1882.  He married Ora Ruby Matthews, daughter of Samuel J. and Lula Corine Lollar Matthews.  She was born February 6, 1888, and died April 4, 1932.  After her death, he married Lena Allen, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Georgia Dixie Ellis Allen.  Lena was born February 11, 1894, and she married John after the death of her first husband, Harry Castleberry.  Lena worked for a while at the switchboard when Brinker had a phone system.  John’s mother Mollie married Jesse Deuberry, Jabe’s brother, after Jabe’s death.  They had a son, Dock Elbert Deuberry, John’s half-brother and also first cousin.  John died December 14, 1953, and Lena died March 23, 1974.
